Socail Networking 'Improving Online Retail'

"According to figures from Hitwise, hugely popular sites such as Facebook and MySpace are contributing to higher visitor numbers at internet stores.

Major web retailers were found to have benefited the most; with eBay claiming that 31.4 per cent of its hits came directly from a social network website."

It could seem like this is an area for only the big players, but even small and medium sized business can make use of the various social networking sites. Don't be afraid to promote your business through MySpace especially if your products are appropriate for the sites core market. Other sites to consider are del.icio.us and flicker. Both of these sites allow you to upload links or pictures of your choice. Take the opportunities to promote your site and products. If you're brave enough, create your own video advert and upload it on to YouTube. As well as acting as good promotional material for your business, each one acts as an inbound link on to the site, which is great for SEO purposes
